OBITUARY: paper unknown; Bernice R. Parkinson, 83, died Wednesday in an Ogden
convalescent hospital of causes incident to age. He was born 12 Apr 1893,
in
Franklin, a son of Samuel Rose and Mary Ann Hobbs Parkinson. He married
Karma Parkinson 3 Sep 1919, in the Logan LDS Temple. By occupation he was
an
insurance agent and farmer. Mr. Parkinson attended University of Utah, and
was a veteran of U.S. Army service, having held the rank of 1st lieutenant
in the infantry. In civic capacities, he had served as chairman of Idaho
Days celebration for several years, and had been draft board chairman. A
member of the LDS Church, he had served in various organization, including
Sunday School teacher, member of the high council for 27 years, ward bishop,
bishop's counselor, and temple officiator. At various times, he had resided
in Franklin, Logan, Salt Lake City and Ogden. Surviving are his widow, three
sons and three daughters, Dr. Richard P., Indio, CA; Dr. Blaine P., Ogden,
and David P., Hutchinson, KS; Mrs. J.W. (Polly) Beatty, Murray; Mrs. C. Lee
(Diane) Colston, Logan, and Mrs. David J. (Nan) Dehlin, Dallas, TX; 29
grandchildren; 13 great grandchldren; two brothers and two sisters, Mrs.
Anita Smoot, Provo; Raymond C. Parkinson, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Myrtle
Russell, Wilmette, IL, and Roland H. Parkinson, Franklin. Funeral services
will be conducted Friday noon in the Cranney Mortuary Chapel, 420 E. 1800 N.
with Anthony A. Wegener, counselor in the Logan 19th Ward, officiating.
Friends may call at the mortuary Friday from 10 a.m. until service time.
Burial will be in the Franklin Cemetery. Karma Benson Parkinson and Bernice
