The graveside service for Thomas Newton Yancey will be at 11 a.m. today at Central Point Masonic Cemetery. Pastor Lee Gregory will officiate.
Mr. Yancey, 87, of Central Point, died Saturday (Dec. 23, 2000) at his home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the World War II Memorial Fund, Washington, D.C.
He was born July 24, 1913, in Nocona, Texas, a son of Sim and Sally Yancey. On April 18, 1942, in Austin, Texas, he married Edna Linville, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1946 from Texas.
Mr. Yancey was a building contractor for 40 years.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Yancey was a member of the Methodist church.
He enjoyed the outdoors.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Joanne Bigman, Gold Hill, and Linda Kitselman, Medford; a brother, John, Granville, Texas; a sister, Mary Jo O’Neal, Fort Worth, Texas; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may pay their respects at 10:30 a.m. today at Central Point Masonic Cemetery.
