FAMILY HISTORY: Velda was the first of six children born to William Brigham Parkinson Jr. and Evans Beth Troop. She was born in Wellsville, Utah, July 26, 1904. She resembled her mother's side of the family with large brown eyes and dark brown hair. Velda grew up in Lewiston, Utah, graduated from North Cache High School in Richmond, then attended B.Y.C. College in Logna. She graduated from B.Y.C. as a school teacher at the age of twenty-one and began her teaching career in Lewisotn. She later went to Price, Utah, to teach school and there met Ben D. Redd, whom she married May 21, 1929. They had three children: Cara Lou, Dixy, and Ben D. Redd, Jr. Velda was very talented and a person of great charm. She wrote a pageant for the 1947 centennial celebration which was presented in Salt Lake City. She was a member of the daughters of the American Revolution and organizations in Price, Utah. Her husband bought a chevrolet dealership in Dillon, Montana, and they moved there with their family. Velda died in Dillon, Montana, November 13, 1954.

Louisa Velda Parkinson and Benjamin Derrill Redd were married on 21 May 1929 in Castle Dale, Emery, UT. Benjamin Derrill Redd1 was born on 2 Jun 1908 in Price, Carbon, UT. He died on 18 Jun 1998 in Doylestown, Bucks, PA. He was buried on 24 Jun 1998 in Logan, Cache, UT. SOURCE

OBITUARY: Ogden Standard-Examiner, Benjamin Derrill Redd, Sr., Doylestown, PA-Benjamin Derrill Redd, Sr., 90, formerly of Ogden and Price, UT and Dillon, MT, passed away Thursday, 18 Jun 1998 in Doylestown, PA. He was born 2 Jun 1908, in Price, UT, son of John Hardison and Cecelia Nielsen Redd. He was a graduate of Carbon High School and attended the University of California at Berkeley. He was in the automobile business in Utah and Montana for 29 years, and in the real estate business in Phoenix, AZ and Utah for 25 years. He married Velda Parkinson in 1929, she preceded him in death in 1954. He married Mozelle Frantzen in 1955 in Elko, NV, she preceded him in death on 11 Apr 1992. He was a Past Master of Jospa #26 in Price and a member of Unity Lodge #18 F&AM in Ogden. He was also a member of Scottish Rite Masons and El Kalah Shrine Temple, both of Salt Lake City. He was a member of the BPO Elks Lodge of Ogden and a member of the Episcopal Church. He is survived by one son, Benjamin Derrill Redd, Jr., Warrington, PA; two daughters, Dixy Siner and Cara Nelson, both of Oklahoma City, OK; 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Marie Snow, Ogden; Ruby Harris, Orem; Ruth Dart, Price; and one brother, John H. Redd, Jr., Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 24 Jun, 11:00 a.m. at Leavitt's Chapel of Flowers Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden, with Unity Lodge #18 F&M conducting. Friends may call at the mortuary one hour prior to services. Interment, Logan City Cemetery following funeral services.
